Zoo Camp

  • ​Zoo Camp is for children who completed 1st- 6th grade.  They must be able to read write.  Please note: Children who have completed 7th grade, may apply to become a Jr. Docent by calling the Docent Coordinator at
  • 575-887-5516.
  • Zoo Camp is held the 1st and 2nd full weeks following the 4th of July.
  • Zoo Camp is a 5 day (Monday- Friday)  camp that meets from 8:30- 12:00 noon.
  • Zoo Camp daily includes singing special camp songs, a trip to different parts of the Zoo each day, crafts, a group project, an educational program, and a guest speaker.  On Friday, the children present a short program demonstrating what they did that week.
  • Each week's session is limited to 33 campers, so please get your registration forms and fee in early.  
  • Registration begins June 1.  
  • Cost for a week session is $40 or$30 per child if parents have a Friends of the Living Desert Membership.
  • A 6 year theme cycle is followed to ensure the children will have a new experience each year.  Themes are listed below:
